    Most of what I have in or on my home (windows, roofing, etc.) is exactly as it was when I moved in years ago. I think it's definitely time to make some improvements to cut energy costs and just make my home more like a home. I'll have to keep doing some research.     My husband and I just moved into a new house and we have some windows that we definitely need replaced. The house is very old, so the windows won't provide any insulation and they have a hard time opening as well. I figure that living there would be a lot easier if we just got new windows.     My dad was lowering our cooler from off our roof, and the rope slipped out of his hands sending the swamp cooler through one of our windows. We have been looking for some new windows but don't know what to look for. This has some awesome insights though that really help.

    Is there a reason to get a double pane window over a single pane? Is one better than the other at keeping your house temperature more stable? And if there is any dirt or condensation in between a double pane, is there any way to clean it or do you just have to get use to it?

    We need to replace most of the windows in our home because they are single-paned. I've been thinking that while we're at it we could change the kinds of windows we have as well.     Claudia, I've had single pane windows as well, and it's really difficult to keep your house insulated with them. Definitely get them replaced so that you don't have to worry too much when the weather changes. Also, it's a good idea to call a window company and have them come out and see what could be done with your living room wall.
